Apprenticeship options at Möhling: Industrial Mechanic specialised in Production Engineering

Industrial mechanics specialised in production engineering are based in the manufacturing environment of a company, from where they accompany the entire manufacturing process. Their range or responsibilities encompasses not only machine setup and production process monitoring, but also includes inspection of manufactured products with a view to safeguarding consistent product quality. The relevant processes as well as product quality are monitored via dedicated computer programmes. The scope of tasks and responsibilities associated with this position ranges from daily servicing and inspection work on production equipment via technically sophisticated machine setup to the optimisation of tools in close consultation with upstream or downstream manufacturing departments as required.

Range of tasks and responsibilities (examples)
  • Requisition, ready provision and verification/inspection of input materials and tools
  • Setup of machines and equipment
  • For newly developed parts: tight-knit cooperation with the Development and Engineering Design departments
  • Monitoring and optimisation of manufacturing processes
  • Documentation of tool discard data and tool wear
  • Product verification/inspection and feeding of measurement data into the quality assurance system
  • Performance of care and preventive maintenance work on machines
Apprenticeship period 3.5 years
The apprenticeship programme in a nutshell
  • During the first months of your apprenticeship, you will acquire basic knowledge and skills in the field of metalworking outside the firm
  • In-company vocational training will enable you to obtain comprehensive insight into the remits and range of responsibilities incumbent upon industrial mechanics specialised in operating technology, thus also providing a closer insight into the Möhling company
  • You will accompany our products across all departments involved – from the stage of development to manufacturing:
    • Development department (handling of customer enquiries, advance quality planning)
    • Engineering Design department (development, blueprinting design and configuration of tool parts)
    • Toolmaking department (manufacture of new tools, tool repairs)
    • Production department (manufacture of connection elements, machine setup, quality monitoring)
    • Work Preparation department (production planning, schedule tracking)
  • Quality Assurance (complaints handling)
Minimum school-leaving qualification Above-average lower secondary school diploma (“Hauptschulabschluss”)
